Ben Paints
Someday, the world will thaw out and we can go to the park. But in the meantime, I thought it would be a good idea to give Ben paint. He's done really well with it - meaning the paint has stayed in the jars and on the paper. He absolutely loves it, and has produced countless masterpieces. Sadly, because the paint is made out of milk, I can't keep his masterpieces. They smell like sour milk once they dry. I found the recipe in a toddler busy book. The paint is evaporated milk, thickened with flour, and colored with food coloring. I don't have to panic if he tries to eat it because it isn't toxic. (He hasn't tried to eat it, though.)
I love the combination of concentration and delight on his face in these pictures.

Kids get so excited about the littlest of things. It is a joy to watch them.
What a great idea (recipe) for painting! I'll have to try it out! I also like how you put every thing in a glass baking dish. Smart woman.
great fun, great memories without having stacks of 'paintings' to feel obligated to keep...if there are true masterpieces among them, pics last much longer and take up much less space, anyway!
What a great idea!! Love keeping the paint in the 9 x 13 dish- you are such a great Mom, your kids are so lucky!!
Cute, I've never made paint before! I'll have to try it. Sorry I didn't get back to you last week,. I was in St George and then was sick!
Precious boy - cute pictures - grandma misses them both!
