Heigh-ho Silver!

And here we find out that tigers and giraffes gallop just as well as horses.

More momspeak

At one point, Ben was freaking out because I couldn't figure out what he wanted. I finally found the toy he wanted and exclaimed, "Oh! You want that toy!" Ben agreed. This toy's permanent name is "dattoy."

Simon at the park

And here's Simon! Simon is cruising in the hottest wheels in the neighborhood - a minivan stroller! This thing is hard to push with 50 pounds of kids in it, but it's the reason we can leave the house, so off we go.

And this is the most uneventful video I've ever posted. In fact, if you're not Dirk, you don't have to watch it. I tried to get Simon to smile, but he wouldn't. Pretty much, I just recorded him looking at me.

Brothers

Once you get done admiring how cute my boys are, you can tell me how well my blue-checked tablecloth goes with my red plaid wallpaper.

Momspeak

A few days ago, I posted that I try not to say "be careful" very often. Nope, not going to say it.

Today, Ben got close to the edge of the bed and looked like he was going to fall. As I bit back a "be careful!" Ben supplied his own cry of "hey!" He said it with my inflection - sort of like hearing myself if I was a two-year-old boy. And I realized, I say "hey!" instead of "be careful." In Momspeak, "hey" means "an adult thinks you're going to hurt yourself so be cautious."

I also noticed I've taught Ben the wrong words to be polite. When I give him something, I say "here you go." Ben now says "ah go" when I hand him something. He doesn't say "thank you."

Hmmmm. Where are his manners?

Ben has manners. It's just that in Momspeak, "ah go" is the word for "thank you." Now that I'm trying to teach him "thank you" he occasionally corrects me back to "ah go."

First we taught him baby sign language. Now he's learning Momspeak. Maybe his third language will be English.

Ben's favorite spot

Last week, when we went to the dinosaur museum with Shawn and Kris's family, Ben got all the way through the museum, and then freaked out and wanted to go back in. He ran directly back to the dinosaur scale. I guess he hadn't gotten his fill of jumping on it. He jumped on the scale for another 20 minutes, and then he was fine to leave the museum.

Mug shots

We've got bunches of pictures of Ben with food all over his face. I've got lots of pictures of Simon eating too, but either he is a tidier eater than Ben was, or I got better at feeding babies, because Simon's food pictures never seems to be as messy as Ben's always were. Good table manners, baby boy!
