But I did get some pictures of the kids in the Garden. This is Benji in the sea of grass that makes up the Waterfall Ampitheater. I think his overalls and hat make him a pretty cute little summer boy. He had a great time running all over. There must be at least 6 acres of lawn in this ampitheater.
We were there just after a thunderstorm. You can see a rainbow in the center of this picture. You can also see a little bitty Ben on the cement pad towards the lower left.
This is why it's called the Waterfall Ampitheater. It's so skillfully designed that the sound of the waterfall does not drown out the stage. The waterfall is all man-made, and the brochure says it's the largest man-made waterfall in North America. The trail to get to the ampitheater winds through the waterfall. Have I already used the word, "amazing?"
There are about ten separate gardens throughout this place. This is Kristen in the Parterre Garden standing next to a carousel. The horses are iron sculptures packed with peat moss. I'm sure that later in the summer, the entire horse is in bloom.
And here is Benji's first skinned knee. Yeah, it isn't exactly a garden, but since it's his first skinned knee ever, I took a picture so Dirk could see it. He fell down on the bricks in the rose garden.

What a day for Benji - skinned knees and acres and acres of wide open lawn to run and play on. I bet he slept well last night!!
The only time I have been at the gardens was when Kris and Mauri and Kecia and Jamie and I all went for a girls day out...you were just dating Dirk and were a bit too shy to join the fun. We loved it till the sun starting going down and the mosquitoes started coming up!! They chased us (the mosquitoes) out of the gardens that night. But yeah - its a pretty amazing place!
I love that place. A couple of years ago I took my sisters and mom there and my sister Lill was LESS THAT EXCITED about a garden and especially the price. She has since bought a year pass and loves it as well. It is so pretty. And secluded. I am so glad you enjoyed it. Kecia wanted to have her Reception there in the Rose Garden.
I love the Gardens Especially on Monday Nights when they do activies- a few of my favorites were the pirates- they had pit stops along the way where you could do things like face painting, sword fighting, and a cool wet sponge fight from small pirate ships. They did a harry Potter one where you made wands and they open the gates to the Children's gardens so they are attached... it's pretty dang cool.
